Samsung to launch Tizen OS based smartphone Z1 on 18th January next year
We have been again hearing about Samsung’s Tizen smartphone and the latest news regarding Samsung Tizen is that the company has plans to launch their first smartphone that will be running Tizen OS known as Samsung Z1. This news came from The Korea Economic Daily according to which Samsung has plans to launch their Z1 Tizen OS smartphone on 18th of January.
The price of the smartphone is attractive though as the smartphone will be launched in India where there is a high need for affordable smartphones. Samsung Z1 will be priced around $90 which is more than enough to fight off smartphone manufacturers that are already in the market with their own affordable smartphones.
Samsung Z1 is said to be equipped with a 4 inch display that will support a resolution of 480 x 800, a dual core processor clocked at 1.2GHz from Spredtrum, 512MB RAM, 3MP camera on the back while a VGA camera at the front. The smartphone will also support 3G which is also a necessary requirements in smartphones nowadays mostly in the emerging markets. We have yet to see how to this smartphone will do in the Indian market and how people would react to it with other options lying around.
Other than India, Samsung is also said to have plans to launch their Z1 smartphone in China as well in South Korea. Samsung is also said to be working on a new camera that will be running Tizen OS and we might get a demo of it on the upcoming Mobile World Congress next month.
Time will tell if it was worth waiting for Samsung to launch Tizen OS based smartphone that we have patiently been waiting for, though good or bad it would still take a lot of time for Samsung to catch up on other operating systems.
