The Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge come pre-loaded with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, but Samsung’s Galaxy S6, S6 edge, and S6 edge Plus (not to mention the Galaxy Note 5) are still waiting for Android Marshmallow in many parts of the world. Today though, Sprint USA customers can celebrate because they’re getting the coveted update to Android Marshmallow.
One thing for which Samsung is to be applauded is its commitment to push out Android 6.0,1, not merely Android 6.0 (which leaves out the additional bug fixes and enhancements of 6.0). The Sprint Galaxy S6 Android Marshmallow update weighs in at a hefty 1.235GB and brings Android Marshmallow with all its new features: Doze Mode, the 200 new emoji added in 6.0.1, along with detailed battery stats, customized app permissions, Google Now On Tap (Touch to Search), app optimizations (for Verizon customers), and much more.
If you’re on Sprint, your Galaxy S6 should be getting updated at the moment. We presume the Sprint Galaxy S6 update includes the S6 edge and S6 edge Plus, though, with carriers and manufacturers, you can never be too certain.
Are you a Sprint Galaxy S6 owner? If so, head on over to your phone settings and hit that update button. Then, after basking in the beauty of your new OS upgrade, come back here and let us know whether or not Android Marshmallow is an upgrade you love or hate.
