Apple announces iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus

Apple announced iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus at an event held nears its head office in SF. Both the iPhone 6 versions have larger and higher resolution compared to previous generation iPhones. And with the announcement of iPhone 6, Apple finally joins the big screen era.
Whole internet was filled with all sorts of rumors and leaked suggesting that Apple will be announcing two different versions of the upcoming iPhone 6. And those rumors finally came true when Apple announced iPhone 6 with a 4.7 inch display and iPhone 6 Plus with a 5.5 inch display.
Both the new versions of iPhone 6 feature a lot of improvements over the previous generation iPhone. iPhone 6 now has an A8 processor that is almost 50 percent more power efficient than last year’s iPhone processor. Larger screens on both models of iPhone 6 allowed Apple to slide in bigger batteries that also increase the music playback time of up to 50 straight hours on iPhone 6 and up to 80 hours on iPhone 6 Plus. Talk time has also increased with the increase in battery backup – 14 hours for iPhone 6 and 24 hours for iPhone 6 Plus.
Apple also introduced mobile payment system called Apple Play that allows iPhone 6 owners to pay wirelessly to any supported merchant. Apple Play service uses American Express, MasterCard and Visa for mobile payments.
iPhone 6 sales start on September 19 in 115 countries worldwide with 16GB model available for $199 on contract. iPhone 6 Plus however starts at $299 for the 16GB version. Apple has asked its manufacturers to produce about 70 to 80 million iPhone 6 units by December 30th which is almost 40 percent more for what Apple opted for iPhone 5S and 5C.
