How to fix “Cannot Get Mail. The connection to the server failed” error
You may have come across an error message on the mail app on your iOS device that says “Cannot Get Mail. The connection to the server failed”, whenever your iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch tries to retrieve mails, particularly from Microsoft Exchange. These are a few things that you can try to get the issue resolved:
Option 1
Move all the emails from inbox to temporary folder or another folder on the server.
Option 2
In some cases, this issue appears on your iPhone or iPad after your email password has been changed on the desktop. You can go to Settings, then Mail, Contacts, followed by Calendar, then Account and Password. Select the Password and enter the new one. iOS may ask you to sign into so that you can apply this change. Once you log into your account, your email password should be updated and you can refresh your email messages. If you don’t see the prompt, you can try a couple of times more.
Option 3
Another way to get this resolved is to change the settings on Microsoft Exchange security.
- Open Active Directory Users and computer
- On the top menu, select View and Advanced Features
- ind and right click the mail account and select Properties
- Select Security tab and then Advance
- Then, select the check box that says “Include inheritable permissions from this object’s parent”.
Option 4
Change the password for Microsoft exchange email account or Yahoo account. You can also try other options like disabling cloud and going to all your mail accounts to reset the passwords. You may also try enabling Airplane mode in Settings and then disabling it. Delete the email account and then create it as a new one. You may also reset Network settings via Settings, then general, Reset and reset Network Settings. You can also change the Mails Days to Sync field to No Limit.
