Motorola starts Android Marshmallow TestDrive for Moto X 2015 Pure Edition

Motorola has already announced its Android Marshmallow update list, which has, of course, upset Motorola fans in the US who won’t see their Moto X carrier models updated on AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, and Sprint. The Moto X 2015 Pure Edition, which is free of carriers completely, however, will be the first of Motorola’s devices to receive the new Android Marshmallow update.
To dispel the rumors and clarify the company’s actions at the moment, Motorola has taken to Google+ to make a statement. David Schuster made a statement from his own social media account: “There have been a couple reports of a Marshmallow “soak test” that has started for Moto X 2015 Pure Edition. Just want to make it clear that we have NOT started a formal “soak test”. We have started a small TestDrive for the Marshmallow upgrade on Moto X 2015 Pure Edition. We will be conducting these tests for the next couple of weeks. Pending the feedback during this test cycle will determine the timing of a full soak test.”
Android Marshmallow was released by Google on Monday, October 5th to the 2013 Nexus 5 (not to be confused with the new LG Nexus 5X), Motorola Nexus 6, Nexus 7, HTC Nexus 9, and the Nexus Player, with Google’s new Nexus 6P (Huawei) and Nexus 5X (LG) having the update pre-installed. Motorola has been one in recent memory to beat Google with the rollout for its Moto devices, but the company’s new Android Marshmallow TestDrive for the Moto X 2015 Pure Edition seems slower than the company’s normal rollout timeframe. Motorola’s having been sold to Lenovo by Google may have something to do with slower rollout updates from here on out.
While it’s true that Motorola hasn’t rolled out the Android Marshmallow update just yet, the company has provided its own update-eligible list, and LG, Sony, Samsung, and HTC have all provided an initial list of devices. Not every manufacturer has made a specific announcement from a blog, but you can go ici to view a more detailed list of devices from even manufacturers such as Huawei, OnePlus, Asus, and others.
