Nexus Protect goes live in Canada
Google’s Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X continue to make their rounds, with the company’s new aluminum metal design and stellar cameras winning a war that many have had with Google’s Nexus line for some time. As part of Google’s commitment to its Nexus line, the company decided to launch its Nexus Protect protection plan for its smartphones. The Nexus Protect plans provide 1 year manufacturing warranty to add to the standard year already provided with the device, and covers two accident repairs within a two-year timeframe.
Google’s Nexus devices have been something of a financial risk for buyers who’ve been intrigued by what Google has to offer, but who would buy a smartphone for $450 in the US when there’s no smartphone insurance in place to protect such an investment? That doesn’t mean that some haven’t taken the plunge despite the financial risk, due to the fact that Google’s fast, quick updates for Nexus devices are something that few non-Google Android buyers experience. Motorola fans in the US have had the privilege, but Motorola’s acquisition by Lenovo may just put an end to the Motorola appeal and turn some former Motorola faithful back to Google’s Nexus lineup once more.
Google’s Nexus Protect plans have been in place for the US since the company made its announcement, but Google has now decided to stretch its protection plans to Canada. Via the company’s Google+ page earlier this week, Google made the announcement: “This just in: +Nexus Protect is now available in Canada.”
For now, only the US and Canada can partake of Google’s smartphone protection plans. We don’t know if Google plans to extend this to other countries, but for now, the North American continent can safely enjoy the Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X – all while knowing that these devices, thanks to Google, are now covered for accidents.
