Nissan will unveil BladeGlider sports EV prototype this month

Nissan has just announced that two working BladeGlider prototype will be unveiled in Rio de Janeiro within the month. These cars have been in development for the past two years, having been first shown at Tokyo Auto Show in 2013.

Just like other Evs the BladeGlider is powered by lithium-ion battery packs, which run by two electric motors that in turn propel the rear wheel. The motors produces 268 horsepower and 521 pound-feet of instant torque. Thanks to the near-silent performance of its aerodynamic shape and powertrain, it can accelerate from zero to 100km/h in less than five. The car has a top speed of 190 km/h (115 mph).

The car has a front and center driving position that reinforces the driver’s focus of the car. It is further enhanced by the seamless panoramic cockpit windshield. It boasts a narrow front and wider rear for optimum aerodynamic and handling stability. It comes with just one set up front for the driver, with room for two in the back.

Other features include an open roof reinforced with an integrated roll-over protection structure, rear-hinged dihedral doors and a five-module lithium-ion 220 KW for battery power. Inside the cabin, there is a central display that shows speed and fuel level. On either side are two screens that show images from rear-view cameras mounted behind the front wheel.

Nissan noted that the car’s open roof will give drivers the feeling of being connected to the road.  The company’s president and CEO Carlos Ghosn noted that the electric car is for car lovers. Nissan is currently offering rides to media personalities in one vehicle, though the car is not going into production. But the company specified that the vehicle symbolizes future technologies that will combine mobility, sports car driving capabilities and environmentally friendly impact.

This video provides additional information conserning the car.
