Le Samsung Chromebook Pro est doté d'un écran tactile et d'un PEN

The Samsung Chromebook 3 has a nice design, spill-resistant keyboard, a microSD card slot, headphone jack, and other specs that make it a great buy (Amazon offers it for $212 with a Kensington sleeve as a bonus!). Well, the Chromebook 3 has been out since January of this year, which means that the Samsung Chromebook 3 is now 9 months old. The Korean giant is back, however, stepping up the game with a Samsung Chromebook Pro that’s soon to arrive on the market.

The Samsung Chromebook Pro brings a 12.3-inch display with a 2400 x 1600 resolution, which is close enough to Quad HD resolution (2,560 x 1,440p), 32GB of internal storage, 4GB of RAM, a stylus called “PEN” here (not S Pen), a metal body 12.9mm thin, and 10 hours of battery life. The current Samsung Chromebook 3 gets 11 hours of battery life, so you’ll sacrifice a little battery life for the improved screen resolution. The Samsung Chromebook Pro has an availability date of October 24th, though the B&H page displaying the availability date has been deleted since it was made public. The pre-order page had the Chromebook Pro priced at $499, which we assume will be the case when the product is officially launched.

The Chromebook Pro would be a good edition to the Chromebook lineup because most Chromebooks on the market aim at affordability. What makes the Chromebook so great and lethal for expensive laptops such as the MacBook Pro is that it does all that most consumers need a laptop for, with a minimal price tag. $200 for a laptop that gets updated by Google frequently, with mobile apps that Android users already use regularly, spells disaster for something like the MacBook Pro from Apple that seems so divorced from the mobile experience on iOS. Apple has said in days gone by that it will not make a device that serves as an OS X/iOS hybrid (nor will it make a touchscreen laptop), but Samsung intends to make a touchscreen Chromebook Pro for a price tag that is about 1/3 of the price of most new MacBooks.

October 24th is only one week away, so we have a feeling that the Chromebook Pro may be announced this week. With that in mind, stay tuned as the announcement day arrives. For now, take a look at the photos below and dream of Samsung’s “next big thing.”
