Samsung Gear VR headset sells out at Best Buy and Amazon
Samsung’s Gear VR headset has now arrived on the market with an impressive $99 price tag. Samsung’s price tag for the virtual reality headset was designed to help consumers adopt the technology — since price is often one deterrent to market adoption encouragement. Well, it seems as if Samsung’s strategy has worked. According to the source link below, both Best Buy and Amazon have sold out of their Gear VR headsets currently, with a temporary “out of stock” claim being made on both websites.
We don’t know how many were in stock at Best Buy and Amazon, but this news seems to be great encouragement for the Korean giant who’s betting big on virtual reality and the future. A Samsung spokesperson said that “We are delighted with the overwhelmingly positive response Gear VR has received from reviewers and eager buyers alike.”
The Gear VR headset currently on sale is the third edition, seeing that the first two headsets were made for developers (titled “Gear VR Innovator Edition”). Pre-orders have already come and gone, with the Gear VR now available directly within Best Buy retail stores. Hopefully, Best Buy and Amazon can quickly refill its Gear VR stock and keep customers buying it.
Samsung said its Gear VR headset would have 30 games available at launch, alongside of allowing viewers to watch full-length movies via the Gear VR Netflix app. Gear VR is available for the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge, Galaxy S6 edge+ (Galaxy S6 edge Plus), and the Galaxy Note 5.
