Verizon Galaxy S7 and S7 edge preorders now shipping

If you’re a Verizon customer, you may have been a proud recipient of the Galaxy Note 5 Android Marshmallow update last Friday. Well, if you’ve picked up a Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 edge from Verizon, prepare for more good news: Verizon Galaxy S7 and S7 edge preorders are now shipping.

I received a shipping confirmation from Verizon today, with an email yesterday about “walking me through my plan,” referring to my new monthly bill amount. I figured that, with an updated monthly bill email, that a shipping confirmation wouldn’t be far behind. Sure enough, I checked the status of my order today and was presented with a shipping number.

Verizon Galaxy S7 edge shipping confirmation

Now, with that said, let me say that Verizon has said that pre-orders will ship by Friday, March 11th, the same date at which the Verizon Galaxy S7 and S7 edge will go on sale in the US (and Galaxy S7 and S7 edge models from other carriers, as well as unlocked models, go on sale worldwide). Word has also been sent that favorite American retailer Best Buy is also shipping Galaxy S7 and S7 edge models. All pre-order models should arrive before March 11th, so contact Verizon or Best Buy if you notice you’ve not yet received a shipping confirmation or notice of any kind.

The Galaxy S7 and S7 edge are Samsung’s latest devices to arrive on the market. The Galaxy S7 features a 5.1-inch, Quad HD display with a 2,560 x 1,440p screen resolution, a quad-core, Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM, 32GB of onboard storage with a microSD card slot that provides up to an additional 200GB of expandable storage, as well as a 5MP front camera and 12MP Sony IMX260 back camera (both with f.1/7 camera apertures). The Galaxy S7 and S7 edge also feature IP68 water and dust resistance, which should provide water protection in up to 5 feet of water for 30 minutes.

Both the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge run the latest in Android, Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, and retain the Gorilla Glass 4 and aluminum metal alloy frame that the Korean giant used on its Galaxy S6 and S6 edge last year. And yes, you can still wirelessly charge your devices using a separate Samsung wireless charging pad.
