Xiaomi announces budget-friendly Redmi 2A
In order to celebrate its five year anniversary, rising smartphone tech company Xiaomi has officially announced the Redmi 2A. While the difference between the Redmi 2 and Redmi 2A is very negligible, the affordable smartphone possesses a different SoC compared to its predecessor. The Redmi 2 features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 while Redmi 2A features a Leadcore L1860C chipset that is running a quad-core processor at 1.5 GHz and a Mali T628 MP2 GPU. Additionally, the smartphone also possesses an 8 MP rear shooter with LED flash, along with compatibility to hold two SIMs in its chassis at the same time.
However, one of the biggest perks of owning the smartphone will be using its LTE connectivity functionality in its affordable price package. The Redmi 2A will be running the Android 4.4 KitKat update ‘out of the box’ coupled with the MIUI 6 user interface. The 4.7 inch IPS panel will be resonating the 1280 by 720 resolution. Since the handset will be catered to the mid-tier smartphone market, it has been incorporated with a 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of on-board storage.
