IOS 10 brings organ donation registration

Apple looks to bring iOS 10 to the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus (if not an iPhone 7 Pro), so it’s natural that iPhone users and fans would want to know just what to expect in the next-generation OS update. While Apple has already revealed its plans for iOS 10 at WWDC 2016, there may be something new to the mobile OS you hadn’t expected. The new feature is organ donation, and, according to a new report, Apple will provide organ donation registration for iPhone users in the upcoming OS update via the new updated Apple Health app.

What this means is that iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, and perhaps even iPhone 6s Plus and iPhone 6s users will get the opportunity to sign up for organ donation now and set everything in place for the moment they die — at which point, their organs would be donated to give someone else life. Organ donation is a big deal for humanity, seeing that not everyone has organs in the best condition and could use some help. If there’s anything we can do after we’re gone, it’s give life to someone else. IOS 10 will bring some additional functionality to Apple’s mobile OS, but organ donation registration is one of those that will remain unforgettable in the company’s mobile history.

To accomplish this easy organ donation registration access, Apple has decided to partner with Donate Life America. “With the updated Health app, we’re providing education and awareness about organ donation and making it easier than ever to register. It’s a simple process that takes just a few seconds and could help save up to eight lives,” said Apple Chief Operating Officer (COO) Jeff Williams.

Some individuals sign up for organ donation when they first register for their driver’s license or permit, while others choose to wait until later in life to make the decision, but Apple believes that consumers should have easy access to the decision and be able to enroll no matter the time in life or life circumstances. With the new iOS 10 organ donation, we applaud Apple. There are some moves the company makes that some believe are done with little purpose at all, but this one is designed to help others save lives. Any time a company empowers others to make a difference where it counts, it deserves some sort of commendation.
