LG G5 Nougat update scheduled for mid-November

The LG G5 Nougat update is one that we’re sure G5 owners are interested in; whenever Google unveils the next-generation Android OS update, Android users want to know when they’re getting it (it’s something of a bragging right in the Android world to get the update first on, say, a Nexus device or now, Pixel device, before everyone else). A carrier has conveniently leaked what looks to be the LG G5 Nougat update — and the carrier sheet says that LG G5 customers can expect the new Nougat update next month, in mid-November.

Australian carrier Optus (a carrier from the same continent that has delivered Pixel phones a week early) has leaked a sheet that shows the LG G5 is in testing. To the right of the phone name (“LG G5”), we see the words “New Version 7.0 — testing — expected mid-November. In other words, Optus plans to get the update in November (which is why the carrier sheet shows these notes), so LG G5 users can expect the LG G5 Nougat update to roll out at that time. Remember, too, that LG also granted beta access to the G5 Nougat update for Korean customers about 2 months ago.

Now, the LG G5 Nougat leak gives us a few expected questions. One question pertains to when LG will roll out the Nougat update for unlocked devices straight from the manufacturer, since unlocked G5s will get the update before everyone else. The next question pertains to what, if any, changes will LG bring to the table for the Nougat update.

These are all questions that may never be answered, of course, but the LG G5 Nougat update based on the Optus carrier sheet is not too far away. At this point, we’re just a few weeks away from seeing Google’s latest sweet treat land on the “modular” LG device for 2016. We’ll be back to bring you word on the LG G5 Nougat update at that time. Stay tuned.
