OnePlus 2 priced at $402 – CEO defends pricing is right

The successor of OnePlus One, OnePlus 2 is expected to be launched in Q3, 2015, which is still a long way for the official announcement of the handset. However, according to a source, OnePlus founder and CEO Pete Lau has stated that 2,499 Yuan, or $402 happens to be reasonable price for the company’s upcoming flagship smartphone, when he was being pestered by fans to disclose additional aspects of the device. Additionally, OnePlus 2 will most likely feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 chipset.

While the leading mobile chipset maker has been bombarded with severe criticism over the overheating issues plaguing the company’s most powerful SoC, it is possible that OnePlus 2 features a revised version of the chipset, one that will not throttle, and one that will remain under the thermal threshold.

Furthermore, the smartphone is also expected to feature 4 GB of RAM, since OnePlus One was already assimilated with 3 GB of RAM. Going anything above a 5.5 inch screen size will make the handset difficult to carry around so it is possible that OnePlus maintains the same screen size between both smartphones, while increasing the resolution of OnePlus 2 to 2560 by 1440 pixels. It is also expected that OnePlus 2’s fingerprint scanner will be far more capable than Apple’s Touch ID interface present on the tech giant’s iPhone 5s and above devices.

As for the remainder of the features, smartphone consumers who are waiting anxiously for OnePlus 2 to arrive will expect the handset to feature a microSD card. Since OnePlus One was void of an expandable storage void, it is only fitting that the Chinese smartphone startup firm makes amends by incorporating a storage expansion slot.

As far the pricing details go, OnePlus 2’s $402 price is very impressive, seeing as how other smartphones that are equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 SoCcarry a much larger price tag.
