Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge plagued by memory management issues

Irrespective of how impressive Samsung’s flagship duo, Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge may be, it still does not make them invulnerable to a boatload of issues. In addition to blocking out the Samsung Pay feature (if smartphone users end up rooting their devices), another issue that both smartphones are plaguing users is their memory management ones. According to a source, both handsets are exhibiting ferocious levels of memory management, despite the fact that Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge possess 3 GB of LPDDR4 high speed RAM.

According to information posted on a forum, thousands of smartphone owners are complaining that because of this particular level of management, applications are shutting down due to extremely low memory count. Several users have also complained that their devices are displaying between 200-400 MB of RAM, which is quite unusual, seeing as how both smartphones are incorporated with a high amount of RAM.

Even though Samsung managed to tone down the heavy system resource consumption feature of its new and improved TouchWiz interface, it appears that the root of the problem lies within Google’s Android Lollipop 5.0 update, which is responsible for consuming a large portion of RAM. The Lollipop platform is suffering from a memory leak issue, which should be addressed when tech giant Google rolls out its next Android update. As for the current problem, Samsung has not stated when it is going to release a fix to alleviate it.

Without going in to too much detail, it is paramount that Samsung starts to address these issues sooner rather than later. After all, spending $599 on an off-contract smartphone is not exactly pennies when it comes to owning one of the most beautifully designed handsets on the planet.
