Verizon and Sony were teaming up to bring the Xperia Z4v to the nation’s largest carrier and made the announcement back in June of this year, but that is no longer the case. According to Verizon, the Sony Xperia Z4v won’t be coming to Verizon after all:
Verizon will no longer be launching Xperia Z4v, however we are committed to supporting Sony Mobile’s product portfolio and will support existing products. Sony is a strategic partner as we continue having ongoing discussions together as part of our future portfolio.
The Xperia Z4v was set to feature a 5.2-inch, Quad HD TRILUMINOS display with a 2,560 x 1,440p screen resolution, a 64-bit, octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, 3GB of RAM, a 3,000mAh battery, 32GB of storage with a 128GB microSD card slot, IP65/68 water and dust resistance rating, and a 20.7MP camera.
Sony’s Xperia Z3v made its way to Verizon, but the smartphone hasn’t sold very well. With Sony’s launching of the Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Compact, and Xperia Z5 Premium, Sony nor Verizon want to invest in a phone with last year’s name. Since the Japanese manufacturer wants to have a comeback in its mobile segment, moving forward with the Xperia Z5 and others is the wisest course of action — although the Snapdragon 810 is still posing problems for even the newest handsets.
