BlackBerry Priv lands at Verizon in March, T-Mobile this month

The BlackBerry Priv is making its rounds after arriving on the market in November with AT&T and selling out at online retailer Amazon. AT&T had early exclusivity over the device, but BlackBerry CEO John Chen says that the new phone that’s poised to give the Canadian manufacturer a comeback is destined to land with T-Mobile at the end of this month, January 26th to be exact, while Verizon can expect to get the new BlackBerry Android-powered smartphone by March 2016. Sprint has yet to confirm a month or specific date it expects to start selling the BlackBerry Priv.

The BlackBerry Priv is seen as a last hope effort by the Canadian manufacturer that once set atop the smartphone world. The Priv, as distinguished from earlier BB phones such as the Passport, Q10, and Z10, has Google Play Store access and runs Android instead of BlackBerry’s own BBOS, with access to Android’s app market. The smartphone named “Priv,” short for “privacy,” also has dual curved edges reminiscent of Samsung’s Galaxy S6 edge and S6 edge+. The BlackBerry Priv was tested by photography and videography expert company DxOMark Mobile and was discovered to be one of the best Android mobile experiences money can buy. Of course, it didn’t beat Samsung’s or Sony’s devices, but it made a respectable showing when stacked up against the LG G4, Moto X 2015, and the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus.
