Huawei arbeitet Berichten zufolge an einem eigenen mobilen Betriebssystem namens Kirin OS

With a flurry of smartphones released in 2015, and several more to come, Huawei is being reported to be working on its own platform, which is rumored to being called Kirin OS. This is not the first time that a tech firm have decided to roll out its own platform in order to challenge the supremacy of Google’s Android operating system. First it was Samsung, who decided that it had to reduce its dependency on Google by releasing its Tizen OS. Unfortunately, the company is yet to advance progressively in that particular department.

According to a source, the Chinese smartphone maker has been working on this platform for the course of three years and it is expected that it will be paired with the company’s next-generation chipsets, which are Kirin 940 and Kirin 950. Currently, the highest performing ‘system on a chip’ is Huawei Kirin 930, which is present in the company’s P8 handset. Apart from digging its hands in to the software side of things, Huawei is also being reported to be working on the Nexus smartphone successor. According to another source, the next Nexus device is going to be powered by Huawei’s own Kirin 930.

However, since Kirin 940 and 950 are going to be released during Q3 and Q4, respectively, the unnamed Nexus smartphone might also be incorporated with Kirin 940. Both upcoming SoCs are going to feature an i7 co-processor, which will behave similarly to Apple’s M7 and M8 co-processors. Similar to Samsung, Huawei will also be looking to reduce its dependency on Google with its Kirin OS. However, the primary advantage that Android holds against all of the mobile platforms is that it is running Google’s Play Store, which plays host to a myriad number of applications.

Additional information concerning Huawei and its Kirin OS will be unveiled once the company reveals more details about it.
