Qualcomm facing design issues with Snapdragon 615
Lately we have been hearing a lot about Qualcomm facing issues with their upcoming top of the line SOC known as Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 which has been reported to be suffering from overheating issues as well as drivers issues related to graphics and RAM. This problems that the SOC is facing were said to delay the launch of the SOC.
Qualcomm later on said that the launch of their Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 won’t be delayed and will be available in the market in the first half of the year 2015, but that is 6 months into the year already which means the SOC won’t make it in time to be seen on high end devices.
Another report came out today saying that Qualcomm is facing issues with their other SOC’s as well including the Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 which is also an octa core 64-bit processor and is the first SOC that Qualcomm announced in their 64-bit category back in February 2014. The issues with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 is said to be design related and because of that smartphone manufacturer might go with another SOC maybe the MediaTek MTK6752 which is also a 64-bit octa core processor.
As of now we don’t know what the real issue is and what Qualcomm is doing with their SOC’s, maybe the company does not want bad publicity on their upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 64-bit SOC’s and that is why its assuring everyone that everything is fine, but if Qualcomm was not able to deliver their 64-bit SOC’s in time, smartphone manufacturers might go with other options. No matter what the reason for the delay might be we sure are excited about the upcoming SOC’s from Qualcomm.
What SOC enabled smartphone would you go for if Qualcomm wasn’t able to launch their 64-bit SOC’s in time?
