How to fix MacBook Pro won’t turn on/ boot up

Many Mac users have come across this issue. Out of the blue, their MacBook Pro doesn’t startup and when they try to connect their mobile USB to the device, it shuts off. Even if they plug in their charging cable, the lights don’t turn on. Here is what you can do if your MacBook Pro is not responding.

Solution 1

Press and hold the Power button down for 20 seconds. After this period of time, let go off the Power button and press it again.

Solution 2

Another option is to try the SMC reset. To do this, on your keyboard press and hold Control + Option + Power button + Left shift button simultaneously for 10 seconds.

You can also try the PRAM reset. To do this, click the Power button, then press and hold Command + Option + P + R keys simultaneously. Keep these keys pressed until the MAcBook restarts and you hear the startup sound. Then release the keys.

Keep in mind that after resetting PRAM, some of the settings like time, disk caches, volume, keyboard and muse preferences are changed.

Solution 3

If you can’t hear any fan sound, startup tone and the battery indicator lights are off, try unplugging and replugging the cable going from the battery to connector.

Solution 4

Sometimes the issue is related to the charger. Check your MagSafe 2 power adapter.
