Huawei announces 4.3 inch e-ink display accessory for P8 trio of smartphone

Huawei had just announced a trio of smartphones, named P8, P8 Max and P8 Lite. The rising Chinese smartphone maker will be attempting to proliferate the popularity of its recently announced flagship offering P8 through the release of a unique accessory. The accessory will be a 4.3 inch e-ink display that will come with its own battery and case and can be mounted on to the 5.2 inch screen size of P8. With the rise of e-book reading products, the company will be catering to smartphone owners who have a penchant of reading while they are on long flights, road trips or just want to enjoy quality time reading a book.

The e-ink accessory is being produced by Oaxis, and the product is called InkCase. InkCase will possess a resolution of 800 by 480 pixels. There are several features of e-ink displays that allow readers to immerse themselves in text related content. First off,the accessory will possess an anti-reflective property; allowing readers to read in any kind of light intensity environments.

The thickness of the accessory is 10.4 mm which is far more compared to the 4 mm of P8. While pricing details of the product have not been detailed by either Huawei or Oaxis, the e-ink display will debut in May. One of the perks of owning the product will be that it will feature its own battery pack and will not be required to get its juice from the 2,680 mAh battery of P8.

Huawei’s flagship offering possesses a Kirin 930 SoC, which is the same one present inside the company’s flagship tablet, MediaPad X2. However, the processor running inside the smartphone is ARM’s Cortex-A53, along with 3 GB of RAM and a very powerful 13 MP rear camera sensor.
