Verizon Moto Z Force Droid ranks second

The Verizon Moto Z Force Droid has yet to make its way to the market yet, but mobile photography expert DxOMark Mobile has already ranked the phone in terms of its camera capabilities. The device features an 8MP front camera and a 21MP back camera (16MP for the regular Moto Z) with optical image stabilization (OIS), laser autofocus, phase detection autofocus (PDAF), and more. Motorola has said that the Verizon Moto Z would be unveiled this summer, though it’s July and we’re still waiting for it.

The Verizon Moto Z Force Droid placed second in DxOMark Mobile’s photography test, scoring 87 overall on photos, 86 overall on videos, 79 on Flash, 91 on autofocus, 89 on exposure and contrast, 83 on color, 88 in both texture and noise, 86 in artifacts, leading to an overall score of 87 points out of 100 points. The device takes great pictures, even in extreme low light, and appears to be a great phone to add to the current high-end Android smartphone lineup for 2016. Adding to the Verizon Moto Z Force Droid’s great photography would have to be the device’s shatter resistance and large, 3,500mAh battery, not to mention the MotoMods modules that help you attach other wanted features onto your device.

The Verizon Moto Z Force Droid is oddly named, in part because Lenovo decided to rename the Moto X “Moto Z” some weeks ago ve later confirmed the moniker change. The device itself is mostly known for its modular ability, with the device having rather normal specs. The shatter-resistant display, great battery life, and rugged splash resistance (not water resistance, though), puts the device right up there with others such as the HTC 10 and Galaxy S7 edge (though the HTC 10 has IP53 splash resistance and the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge have IP68 water and dust resistance). The Galaxy S7 Active is another high-end Android flagship for Samsung, though its exclusivity to AT&T puts the device out of the running for most customers. Sadly, the Moto Z Force Droid is nothing more than a Verizon exclusive — putting it out of the hands of diehard fans on other carriers.

If the Verizon Moto Z Force Droid performed this well in the camera shootout, we’re all too happy to get our hands on it and let you know what we think. And yes, when we do, we’ll test the device for ourselves to give you an idea of what to expect.
