Boost Your Mic Volume for Discord

While you are chatting with your friends on Discord, suddenly your friends would mention that they cannot hear you clearly. This is quite frustrating especially when you are discussing something important. There are many possible reasons as to why this could happen. One possible reason is that you have a mic issue.   • Search for voice and video under app settings found on the left part of the screen
  • Click on voice and video

  • Click Okay

Select Input Device

Change Input Volume

Adjust Microphone Sensitivity in Windows

One way to fix your issue with your mic input is by boosting your volume within your Windows settings.

  • Press Win+R
  • Type ‘control’ in the pop-up
  • Select Sound
  • Select the recording tab
  • Select your preferred device
  • Select Properties
  • Go to the levels tab
  • Adjust the microphone sensitivity according to your preference. We recommend to adjust it to 100.
  • Adjust the microphone boost value to maximum
  • Click Ok to save Microphone properties changes
  • Click Ok on Sound window
  • Restart your device

Clean the Microphone Port and Hole

One of the most common reason as to why you could experience a problem with your mic is that your mic could be dirty and its mic holes are clogged. This could be due to the accumulation of dust on its port.

  • Turn off your device
  • Ensure that the charger is unplugged
  • Dip a Q-tip inside a cleaning alcohol
  • Insert the wet Q-tip inside the microphone port
  • Gently rub and clean the rust and dirt
  • Use a dry Q-tip to clean excess alcohol left on the port
  • Wait for at least 10 minutes to dry out the alcohol
  • Turn on your device and try it out

For laptop’s built-in microphone

  • Turn off your laptop
  • Ensure to unplug your charger or power cable
  • Try to check where your microphone is located
  • Use a dry toothbrush and rub the toothbrush inside the microphone hole to dig out the dust particles
