4-inch iPhone leaks in new video

We’ve been hearing about Apple’s plans to release a 4-inch iPhone this year, but so far, the reports and rumors clash constantly. We’ve heard conflicting reports about the name of the device, from the iPhone 6c to the iPhone 5e, and, as of the last few days, the latest name to add to the group is “iPhone 5se,” for “special edition.” We’ve heard the device would be launched last year, now we’re being told it’ll launch this year — either in March or April. Out of all the things we’ve heard, it seems as though the specs are the only consistent information in the mix.

A new video sheds light on how to see this new, 4-inch iPhone: as a smaller iPhone 6 or iPhone 6s. The back of the 4-inch iPhone in the video released is gold, the color matching the iPhone 6 and 6s. The device’s speakers match that of the current iPhone models, even down to the presence of Touch ID. Some rumors have said that the new 4-inch iPhone would not have Touch ID, that this would be a budget-friendly model, but it doesn’t make sense for Apple to make a 4-inch iPhone lacking fingerprint authentication if Apple intends to bring Apple Pay compatibility to the device. Cupertino wouldn’t want its budget-friendly device to have reduced security in order to meet a price point, would it?

While rumors abound, it’s nice to see a video of the 4-inch iPhone that includes fingerprint authentication with Touch ID and looks like an iPhone 6s Mini rather than an iPhone 5.
