The Galaxy S7 is currently under development, model numbers point to two models in 2016

The Galaxy Note 5 is now three months old (if you can believe that), but Samsung is anxiously awaiting the next few months when it will showcase the Galaxy S7 to the world. My colleagues over at SamMobile now have the dibs on some official evidence that points to the Galaxy S7 – outside of benchmarks. The latest information points to two Galaxy S7 models, one bearing the model number G930FXXU0AOK6, a direct successor to the SM-G920 (the Galaxy S6) and G935FXXU0AOK6, the direct successor to the Galaxy S6 edge (SM-G925). This year, Samsung released a basic Galaxy S6 model as well as the Galaxy S6 edge. Samsung also released a larger Galaxy S6 edge+, too, but we don’t have a model number for the Galaxy S7 edge+ — if such a model even exists for Samsung at this point. Samsung does have 9 months before the release of an “S7 edge Plus,” so we can only speculate at this point.

At this point, we can see that Samsung may indeed continue with a regular Galaxy S7 model. Some critics this year pointed out that Samsung should have made the Galaxy S6 edge the flagship device and ditched the usual box-like S6, but Samsung still wants to cater to consumers who don’t care to pay a pretty penny for the “edge” smartphone lineup.

Other rumors about the Galaxy S7 point to a new BRITECELL camera sensor with either a 12MP or 21MP or higher count, as well as the fact that Samsung’s 2016 Galaxy S arsenal may cost 10% less than this year’s Galaxy S6 lineup. We’ll keep you posted as we learn more, but, in case you didn’t know, the Galaxy S7 will be the talk of the town – possibly at the uptick of the New Year.
