Micromax Yureka announced with Cyanogen OS 11

Micromax now have exclusive rights to everything regarding Cyanogenmod and because of that the company also have exclusive right to sell only their products running Cyanogenmod on them or have Cyanogenmod branding on them. This has let a problem for two smartphone manufacturers including OnePlus and Xiaomi as both are banned from selling their smartphones in India.

Micromax did this because they had something planned in the form of a new smartphone that the company just announced by the name Micromax Yureka. Micromax Yureka is sold for a pretty fair price as well and a nice set of hardware as the smartphone only costs $149.

Micromax Yureka is equipped with a 5.5 inch display that supports a resolution of 720P, Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor which runs on 64-bit architecture and 2GB of RAM. The smartphone also supports LTE and comes with 16GB of onboard storage while micro SD card slot is also available. Other than that the smartphone is equipped with a 13MP camera on the back while a 5MP selfie camera at the front and to power it all a 25000mAh battery.

In terms of software the smartphone will be running Cyanogenmod kitkat 4.4.4, though there was no news on whether the smartphone is going to be updated to Android 5.0 lollipop. The price of the smartphone is what’s attractive about it and Micromax might be using the same strategy that OnePlus One did. The smartphone is currently available on Amazon India.

Though Micromax Yureka is a good smartphone for the price but we are sure the Indian market was patiently waiting for the OnePlus one and when that time came, Micromax got the lead. This would also affect the sales of OnePlus One. Do you live in India, if yes, then what are your thoughts about Micromax gaining exclusive right to Cyanogenmod?
